BROOKLYN BOUDOIR

Pin-Up Style | Ms. G | Brooklyn Boudoir Photographer

When Ms. G came in for a boudoir shoot from Los Angeles two years ago, she left a lot of the details up to me.  We shot at my home studio, and our end results were lovely.  She was visiting family in New York again this year, and took the opportunity to book her second Brooklyn Boudoir shoot.

This time, however, Ms. G came to me with a very clear idea of what she wanted to do -- Pin Up Style boudoir!  I was a little hesitant, because it's a little out of my comfort zone.  I don't know that much about the 30s or pinup, and this isn't a style I generally shoot, BUT her enthusiasm was infectious so I figured why not?!  We ran with it and created some of my favorite images yet.  Ms. G. brought lots - and I mean LOTS - of modern vintage wardrobe options, from high waisted red shorts, to a polka dot swimsuit to a dreamy nude & white garter belt look.  Her classic looks and red hair were the perfect match for the wardrobe and Ms. G really got into her 1930s character.  The result was a really beautiful synergy and I found myself completely inspired.

A fun side story: just as we were about to begin shooting, Ms. G's husband called.  She mentioned her shoot was about to begin and she realized that she hadn't told her husband about it... NOT because it was going to be a surprise for him, but because Ms. G was having a shoot JUST BECAUSEfor her own damn self.  I always preach you should "do it for you" when it comes to a boudoir shoot, and here was my boudoir philosophy coming to light right in front of me. This made me happier than all of the beautiful images we took took together (and those made me pretty damn happy, so it's saying a lot).

THANK YOU, Ms. G for choosing me to photograph you a second time!  I adore you and find infinite inspiration in you, so here's to our third (fourth... fifth...) shoots together in the future!

xoxo, Stephanie
