Hello & Welcome!

Stephanie Bordas, Brooklyn Boudoir Photographer

I'm Stephanie, your photographer at Brooklyn Boudoir.  To me, boudoir photography is about WAY more than physical beauty; it's about confidence & freedom -- the ability to step outside your comfort zone, be brave, and connect with your sensuality, which is powerful and oh-so-important for us women! There's nothing like feeling confident in your own skin -- when you do, you truly feel as if you can take on the world (and I’d venture to say you CAN)!  So while a boudoir session can make a great gift for your loved one, it is more importantly a great gift to YOURSELF!

At Brooklyn Boudoir we’ve redefined "traditional" (read: cheesy) boudoir photography to create artful, modern portraits in a safe, judgement-free environment. My mission is to make women feel FANTASTIC about themselves though a first-class photo shoot experience -- to help them remember the fierce, fabulous, sexy, woman within them, regardless of age, weight or relationship status, and I am really good at it! It’s about capturing the essence of your beauty & personality, embracing your unique femininity, celebrating yourself and taking some “me time,” which (let’s be honest) we could ALL use more of. These are not cookie-cutter photos -- I see every woman for their unique self and pride myself on providing a bespoke experience for all of my clients. No costumes, no “fantasy closet,” no overdone hair and makeup, no old-fashioned filters, no men allowed. Your photos will be real, raw, and 100% YOU.

I'm a city girl, born & raised in Brooklyn, NY.  I'm a mom to two young girls, love to see the world, and have always fancied the road less-traveled.  I believe in saying yes over saying no, and that a bit of bravery can lead to some unforgettable adventures.  To me, every woman -- of every age and size -- is inspiring & deserves to feel beautiful.

The marriage of portraiture, sensuality, and *Girl Power* makes boudoir photography a perfect fit for me. I genuinely love connecting with different women, learning their stories (ALL of which are important), pampering them with a few hours of "me" time, and giving them an opportunity to feel sexy.  I want my clients to walk away from their boudoir session with me feeling fearless, fierce, and empowered by accepting themselves as they are... and to carry those feelings with them always.  It's a tall order, and I feel my work is truly important.

PRESS

I was recently interviewed by Nikki Closser on The Portrait System Podcast about my client-focused business model and my collaborations with Sugar Cookies Lingerie. You can listen to the interview HERE.

The interview had several magazine features associated with it, including this one in Rangefinder Magazine and on this Q & A.

A member of the Association of International Boudoir Photographers, photography has been a passion of mine since embarking on a daily self-portrait project in 2007.  I am constantly studying and working to improve my craft. Brooklyn Boudoir is actually my 2nd career - I was originally a TV and film producer. You can hear more about my journey into boudoir photography on this Bucket List Careers podcast interview.

I was interviewed by Samantha Rose for the Sugar Cookies blog about the value of boudoir and the similarities in self care between lingerie and boudoir photography (plus some tips for shopping for your own boudoir shoot!) The interview was later re-published in the Summer 2023 issue of The Best of Intima Magazine.

Feature Shoot, an online magazine for Photographers has interviewed me twice: first on Tips and Tricks for Boudoir Photography and then about Common Mistakes seen in Boudoir Photography and how to avoid uncomfortable situations.

PhotoWhoa a website dedicated to ongoing education for photographers, listed me as one of the top 10 Fine Art Nude Photographers in NYC, and interviewed me about my fine art and boudoir work on this blog post.

Peerspace named me one of New York City’s best photographers.

I talk about my passion for self-portraits and the value I find in that practice in this film by Verso:

I have studied under some of the country's top boudoir photographers, including a mentorship with Kara Marie Trombetta, a maternity masterclass with Lola Melani and a start up class with published boudoir educator Christa Meola. In addition to boudoir photography, I love coffee, New York, and wine (but really, who doesn't?), and have been know to start impromptu dance parties around Brooklyn (pre-kids and pre-COVID, sigh).  I have an absurdly large collection of jeans, black jumpsuits, vintage cameras & ex-boyfriends.  I am available for boudoir, maternity shoots, motherhood portraits, editorial work, fine art commissions and personal branding. You can find some of my other work, including travel photography, holgas, and more portraits (of men, even!) at expresstrainphoto.tumblr.com
